WHAT CLASS IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

WHAT CLASS SHOULD I TAKE FIRST?

All classes are open to all levels, Inspire Hot Yoga is primarily a Power Vinyasa Flow based studio. Power Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a powerful, energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting their breathing to their movements. A fast-paced style of yoga focused on building strength and endurance with a cardiovascular dynamic. It is also an excellent form of yoga for burning calories. This type of yoga is taught in a heated studio which makes it a vigorous and revitalizing form of physical fitness. Happy Hips Is a great Power Vinyasa Flow class to start with. Yin yoga is our secondary methodology at Inspire Hot Yoga If you're looking for something more meditative we recommend our Candlelight Chill classes (Yin). Yin yoga class consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer. Our class descriptions will give you an idea of what to expect in each class and the level of physicality.

I WANT TO RELAX AND UNWIND

CANDLE LIGHT CHILL This Yin inspired class is super chill! Each pose is held for longer periods of times, as long as five minutes or more. There are three principals of Yin Yoga: Come into the pose to an appropriate depth Resolve to remain still Hold the pose for time Yin Yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissue of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating a awareness of inner silence and self inquiry. New yogis welcome. (Warm class) Physicality 1/10

WHY HOT YOGA?

37°C - Inspire hot yoga is proud to offer (FIR) infrared radiant heat. This therapeutic heat directly permeates the body with a whole range of health benefits. Infrared radiant heat is the most eco-friendly heating system available. We invite you to experience the many health benefits that this offers: Increased Flexibility Infrared heat warms the muscles, allowing for a greater range of motion. Research has proven that participants were able to stretch as much as three times their normal amount in an infrared environment. This will allow you to open up, melt deep into poses and gain confidence in your practice safely! Increased Circulation Infrared heat has been shown to stimulate blood flow by opening up the body’s capillaries. This has an incredible affect on the body. It can help lower blood pressure and oxygenate your organs. Detoxification Infrared heat will make you sweat, which is a good thing! It is your body’s natural way of flushing toxins. As your body absorbs infrared heat, water molecules begin to vibrate, which causes them to wring out impurities from the cells and expel them. These impurities will be released from your body as you sweat, creating a deep, detoxifying cleanse on a cellular level! Weight Loss Your body has an impressive temperature regulation system. It wants to stay at a consistent temperature and its willing to work very hard to ensure that happens. As your body heats up, its natural cooling system kicks in, which takes energy and burns calories. An increased metabolism between the blood and tissue also burns additional calories. Pain Relief Infrared heat directly penetrates tissue, muscles and joints, allowing them to heal and regenerate. This is accomplished through increased circulation, oxygenation and detoxification. This is incredibly beneficial for pain relief for both minor injuries and chronic ailments.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE HOT YOGA?

If you come 1-2 times a week, we promise you’ll feel good. At 3-4 times a week, lasting transformation develops. Practice 5-6 times a week for life-changing results.

IS IT A CARDIOVASCULAR WORKOUT AND CAN I LOSE WEIGHT?

YES and YES. No matter your level of fitness is, you will find hot yoga challenging. Each posture combines flexibility, strength and balance to work your whole body from your bones to your skin. With persistence, patience and dedication, you can lose inches and develop muscle tone and strength that might never come from other forms of exercise.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASSES?

Yes, the minimum age is 16 years old, and we will need a signed waiver from a parent or guardian if you are under 18.

DOES INSPIRE HOT YOGA OFFER HANDS ON ADJUSTMENT AND ALIGNMENT?

Effictive July 1st ajustments will be returning. YES our yoga teachers have a variety of tools available to guide students through their practice. From our own presence, attentiveness and energy. To our verbal instructions, to demonstrating the pose, to our use of metaphor and story–telling. Then there is the hands-on approach, which is referred to as an ‘adjustment or ‘assist’. Here are some reasons for the immense benefits of the hands-on approach: Help avoid unsafe alignment. Deepen release and relaxation. Cultivate a connection with each student. Encourage mindfulness. Provide insight into the energetics of a posture. Deepen the posture. There are 5 types of assists or adjustments: Directive Investigative Awakening Adjusting /Deepening Empowering/Stabilizing touch The goal of any experienced teacher is to cultivate the greatest amount of empowerment with the least amount of force. From my personal experiences I have gained immense benefit and knowledge from being trained in hands on alignment and adjustment. Not only as a teacher but as a student it has helped me grow my personal practice in leaps and bounds and I am a huge advocate for this teaching style. However there are many valid reasons you may not want to be adjusted or assisted. Injuries unknown to your teacher, illness, emotional or physical traumas your teacher may be unaware of. Sometimes we are simply having a day and we just want to be left alone. All choices are valid and for that reason we will have little tokens at the desk for your comfort that say YES or NO to hands on adjusting. You do not have to be a yes or a no. Your goals, needs and limits are of our upmost concern and we want EVERYONE to feel supported and safe in a hands on environment. Grab your token at the front desk before your class and place it top centre above your mat and simply return it to the jar after class!

I'M PREGNANT AND THINKING OF TRYING POWER VINYASA YOGA. IS IT SAFE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN?

As with any exercise program, the two general rules of thumb are to check with your physician and to listen to your own body and heed any warning signs that you are in a danger zone either for injury, overheating or overwork. Having said that, Power Vinyasa Yoga can be practiced by anyone, as long as modifications are done to accommodate for any individual's issues. If you had a strong practice before you became pregnant, it does help. It's usually not a good idea to start a yoga practice as a beginner when you're pregnant. There are some poses such as inversions and lying on the belly that are contraindicated for pregnancy. As we practice in a heated room, it is best to discuss with your physician your interest in starting or continuing your yoga practice when you are pregnant.
